Familiar is a starting point.

It's what happens next that gets interesting.

I'm Chris Harrelson, Associate Creative Director, Creative Content & Operations, at WHY Brands (Munchkin). I lead more than 20 creatives across brand, campaign, packaging, and film. I'm looking for my next full-time Creative Director role.

Selected work

Ideas out in the wild.

A collection of brands, campaigns, and experiences built to challenge expectations, connect with people, and deliver results.

Creative leadership

Big ideas need people who can make them happen.

Great creative doesn't happen in isolation.

It takes vision, collaboration, and the ability to turn possibility into reality.

I've built and led multidisciplinary teams, partnered with executive leadership, and directed creative across global brands, product launches, and integrated campaigns.

I lead more than 20 creatives across design, packaging, production, and emerging technology.

Developing people is part of the job. I've given people growth opportunities and challenged them to take on more leadership roles, including two promotions. I also rebuilt our photo and video team to produce shoots in house, with a 20% speed gain and 15% lower shoot budgets. And I delivered Runway training to Brand Design, Marketing, and Industrial Design, because the tools become more useful when the people making the work understand what they can do with them.

I believe in giving talented people the freedom to challenge assumptions, take risks, and do the best work of their careers.

The work gets better when everyone has a voice.

How I work.

Questions first.

I start every project with research. Who might care? Why should they? What are we actually solving?

People first.

I ask my team to think like students, and I look for the next role to challenge them into.

Open room.

I like a room where ideas get thrown around without anyone making it personal. A crappy idea might be a brilliant one from a bad angle, so we turn it around before we throw it out.

Hands on.

I stay close enough to the work to know when it needs help. On a title sequence, that meant developing the concept, storyboard, and title graphics, then leading it through production and post.

Tools second.

Tools come after the question. AI is how my teams get more room to try the strange version.

About

A little unconventional. By design.

I'm drawn to unexpected connections, challenging assumptions, and finding something interesting where others might not think to look.
